An in-person, evidence-based workshop for dog owners and professionals
Living or working with a reactive dog can be stressful, confusing, and often isolating. Despite the abundance of advice available, much of it focuses on surface behaviours rather than addressing what is really driving a dog’s reactions This in-person workshop explores why canine reactivity develops, what maintains it over time, and how to support meaningful change in a way that is ethical, practical, and grounded in current behavioural science. Rather than offering quick fixes, this workshop focuses on understanding the emotional and environmental factors that influence reactive behaviour — giving you a clearer framework for decision-making and training. You’ll gain insight into: • The underlying emotional drivers of reactivity • Why common approaches often fail or worsen the problem • How stress, learning history, and environment interact • What supportive, evidence-based intervention looks like • How to move forward with clarity and compassion This workshop is suitable for: • Dog owners living with reactive behaviour • Dog trainers and behaviour professionals • Veterinary nurses and allied professionals What do we do differently and why?
This is primarily a practical yet observational course where we will show you how we work with reactive dogs. You attend without your dog. With a selection of chosen case studies we will demonstrate how we assess each of the dogs, what skills would be beneficial for each case and the process of working around triggers Your brain will be buzzing with information and ideas by the end of the day. What topics do we cover?
