We believe the key to true understanding, behaviour learning and behaviour change with any dog, starts with teaching the owner. Yes we could work directly with your dog but often this fails once the dog goes back in to the home as the very people who are going to have the greatest influence lack the knowledge and skills to continue what has been established. We are not interested in quick fixes or promising you something that may not be in you or your dogs best interests, financially or emotionally.
That is why we have worked hard to be able to bring you a better option and solution by staying onsite with your dog whilst we teach you both.
Think of it as a working holiday, where you (and your partner/family) can learn and much or as little as you want during your stay.
Suitable for all pet dog owners, aspiring trainers or those in the industry wanting practical personal development.
We hunted high and low around New Zealand to find the perfect property that offers respite, safety and opportunity for you and your furry friend(s) with a little something extra.

Kereru Farm & Cottage
Welcome to our private 20 hectare farm in Upper Waitati, near Dunedin, South Island. A dogs paradise which is just waiting for you to explore, filled with walking tracks, forests, native bush and streams, with no fear of off leash dogs running up to you.
Accommodation is provided in our cosy and warm private Kereru Cottage where you and dog(s) can relax and enjoy your own securely fenced garden with views down to dog friendly Blueskin Bay and the ocean.
Kereru Cottage
Enjoy a single level private country cottage, separate from the main farmhouse. Light up the wood burner in the comfortable living/dining room, prepare your meals in the well equipped kitchen and relax in the cosy queen bedroom with wonderful rural/sea views, includes a double sofa (for extra people) and a shower ensuite.
Fully fenced private garden and patio area, with direct access to our tracks and forests which are yours exclusively during your stay.
Simply come and enjoy the space and the environment or book a behaviour consultation or training sessions to compliment your stay.
The choice is yours, do as much or as little as you like.
The cottage can be booked independently of any dog training through Air BnB or directly through Allsorts, if you wish to use it at your leisure for a holiday. There is much to do in the area and we are just 15 minutes from the city centre of Dunedin but feel a world away.
Please note that whilst we have our own dogs on site, they do not interact with anyone (unless for training purposes). They live indoors and have their own private outside area at the far end of the farmhouse, away from the cottage without direct visuals. We work hard to ensure our dogs are as calm and quiet as possible to not disturb you or your furry friends during your stay. They are exercised elsewhere when Stay & Train guests are here. We fully understand the complexities of living with dogs with behavioural challenges and so your comfort and safety are our top priority.
We do have goats and horses who are used to dogs but they can be secured away during your stay if you are concerned about your dogs reaction around them. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have.
All training is tailored exclusively to you and your particular needs. We offer a free video consultation before you arrive so we can visual meet, discuss your goals and plan your training schedule. You can book as many sessions as you like or add more during your stay.
