Living with a dog that displays reactivity and aggression towards other dogs can be challenging, confusing and worrying.
If you struggle with a dog and feel lost and unsure how you can move forward, or perhaps you are interested in learning more about dog behaviour then join us on this 2 day course and understand what can drive these behaviours and lead to displays of aggression or indeed true aggression. Learn how you can work towards changing how your dog feels and responds in these situations and the systems and training you can put in place to achieve more calmness. Whether you have a dog that is reactive towards other dogs, people or any other triggers, the principals of modifying their behaviour are the same. What do we do differently and why?.
When you register, it is for you as the owner of a reactive dog to attend and learn. We will then be selecting only a few dogs to attend with their owners, to use as case studies and for us to work with during the weekend, based on their history and age. This course is designed as an observational course to maximise your ability to learn, understand and ask questions. If you would like us to work with you and your dog afterwards we can arrange private sessions or further courses. What topics do we cover?
Day 1 Understanding the critical socialising period Fear periods in your dogs development Trauma events How dogs build associations Identifying your dogs triggers Environmental influences Behaviour stacking Chemical imbalances Day 2 Your legal responsibilities Muzzle training Confidence Training Building focus and motivation Management strategies Behaviour Modification Training Measuring your dogs progress Understanding your limitations |
